Description of the project:
Global warming and climate change are a serious threat to the future of society. In accordance with the international efforts to prevent and stop these processes, there are also efforts to adapt to these changes. The European Union (EU) develops strategies to fight and adapt to climate changes. The European Green Deal signed by the European Commission on July, 14th has the objective to make climate, energy, transport and taxation policies of the EU appropriate for reducing net greenhouse gas emission by at least 55% up to 2030, compared to the levels in 1990, with the final aim for the world to have no net emissions of gases by 2050.
In terms of this project, the focus is on educational institutions as an important factor in the fight against climate change by raising eco awareness. The project is organized on the principles of eco-schools in which there are activities for reduction of water consumption, using renewable energy sources, protection of biodiversity, prevention of air pollution, organic agriculture and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
